| Every student's
individualized education plan (IEP) stipulates
program modifications and/or accommodations to
use in the general education classroom.
These modifications and accommodations are intended to "level
the playing field" so that a student with a
disability can demonstrate their knowledge and
ability without penalty of their
disability. Moreover, while it is true
that regular classroom teachers have a legal
obligation to implement the modifications and/or
accommodations stipulated, teachers may also
implement additional accommodations or
modifications.
